Here’s a small selection of highlights to give you a sense of what it really means to ‘get some cat’.Some of the work we carry out is confidential, which explains the lack of description in some cases. But there’s still plenty to get your teeth into.
Aegon and Aegon Ireland
We helped with the communications around its acquisition of Cofunds. Created an analysis of various drawdown options including guaranteed drawdown and produced an independent analysis of how guaranteed income products fit within the landscape of withdrawal products in the UK.
Examining the cost effectiveness of its Global Tracker Portfolios compared to its peers in the direct to customer platform market.
Alliance Trust Savings
We provide strategic communications support, working as an integral part of its Marketing team. We write content for both direct and intermediary channels and act as Alliance Trust Savings’ PR agency.
We helped Altus refine its marketing approach, drawing out key messages and then reflecting those in new copy for the website. We’ve also supplied design services to Altus.
Aquila Heywood used us to facilitate a strategic review of its options for expanding its footprint in the UK long-term savings and investment market. It was fun to do.
From unique, in-depth proposition analysis right through to ongoing support for in-house comms – we’ve worked on all kinds of one-off projects and campaigns with this market-leading platform.
We provide Aviva with regular market insight support in relation to Aviva Platform.
The lang cat provided industry insight, pricing proposition, consultancy, strategic communications assistance and supporting PR services for AXA Wealth and AXA Self Investor.
We worked with Barclays to benchmark the pricing of its direct investing service, whilst it was defining the proposition and also to help support launch activity.
In early 2016 we helped to develop a proposition strategy for financial planning. The work consisted of establishing a clear target market, defining market size, proposition design and take to market strategy.
Cambourne Financial Planning
We helped Cambourne review the market for adviser back office software and platforms, making recommendations for the most suitable platforms and systems for its business and clients.
Canada Life International
Back in 2013 we helped CLI with its thinking on how to structure its distribution efforts – how much effort to put into face to face sales vs telephone sales and all that sort of thing.
Back in the days when Capita Self Invested Pension Services was still a thing, we helped with a market segmentation and analysis of the SIPP market.
Capital Asset Management
We helped CAM with some new brochureware to highlight its distinctive proposition.
Cofunds initially engaged us for a TCF assessment of its marketing and disclosure materials. We rewrote terms and conditions in a customer friendly style, whilst maintaining legal integrity and helped improve administration forms.
We work with Downing Crowd, a Crowd Bond platform set up by Downing LLP. So far it’s been a great challenge helping educate investors in this rapidly growing and sometimes complex area. We now manage PR for the wider Downing LLP business too.
The global presence of FinaMetrica's risk profiling tool means we understand the regulation and unique make-up of multiple major financial markets. We love the techy side of financial services too, making this a perfect match.
Focus engaged us to help test the functionality of a set of adviser planning tools it was developing. We recruited a number of advisers and paraplanners to help ensure the tools meet their needs.
Supported by social media and traditional PR activity we helped to raise awareness of F&TRC’s newly launched comparison tool. The launch generated substantial trade press coverage attracting new adviser subscriptions.
GBST is one of the lang cat’s oldest clients. Providing strategic communications support, we have developed a relationship of strength and depth, helping raise its profile in the UK.
We helped Helm Godfrey with a research exercise to assess developments in the fixed and flexible benefits market, with particular reference to the impact of auto-enrolment.
We worked with Hymans on a series of research papers covering HR directors, trustees and the technology landscape for DC schemes.
Back in 2013 we worked on refreshing some of Investec’s sales collateral, particularly for its managed solutions range.
Working closely with the in-house communications team, the lang cat supports IRESS in the UK with industry insight, the development of marketing content and the delivery of key messages to its audiences, including trade and national media.
From providing consultancy on Irish Life’s platform proposition for the Irish broker market, to developing, designing and writing its subsequent branding and promotional materials, we continue to work with Irish Life to meet their ongoing needs.
Montage Portfolio Management
Working closely with the business owner, the lang cat provided writing, design and PR services to support the launch of Montage Portfolio Management.
Over the years we’ve done various bits and bobs for our Edinburgh neighbours. Most recently we’ve supplied market analysis to its insight team. We also helped create its Ignite range of implementation materials.

We worked on a new suite of promotional material for Octopus’ OPM multi-asset fund range. Bish Limbu from Octopus remains one of our very favourite people we’ve ever worked with.
Old Mutual Wealth
Old Mutual Wealth commissioned the lang cat to produce an in-depth review of its Wealth Select Managed Portfolio Service, to coincide with the 2nd anniversary of the launch.
Working with a small, highly experienced, team such as Panacea lets us get stuck into lots of the stuff we like best. Building a strategic communications plan from scratch, we’ve also extended our support to marketing campaigns and corporate development.
We’ve done a range of bespoke market analysis over the years, ranging from general platform competitor awareness stuff to some quite technical areas on how insurance companies can interact with platforms more efficiently.
One of our very first clients; RBS used us to create some new promotional materials for its Premieraccount service.
Retirement Advantage (formerly MGM Advantage)
Before Retirement Advantage was Retirement Advantage, we helped it work out how it might go about linking its investment-linked annuity product with platforms.
An independent review of its drawdown governance service.
We have worked with Santander, helping them with a number of aspects relating to its Investment Hub service. This includes pricing analysis, competition benchmarking and take to market communications strategy.
Schroders remains one of our very poshest clients. Most recently we helped its marketing team with some new promotional materials for its multi-asset fund range.
We’ve worked on a number of projects for Scottish Friendly, with an emphasis on copywriting and proposition consultancy.

SEI has used the lang cat for ad-hoc market insight from time to time, and in 2016 commissioned us to create a market analysis of the various ways advisers can create their own technology ‘stack’ to power their businesses. We’ll launch that in 2017.
Creation of a co-branded report examining the issues facing advisers when conducting due diligence on the advised SIPP market.
We helped SL understand its competitive position in terms of new developments more fully in the light of CP12/12, and have supplied bits and bobs of market research and content from time to time since then.
Work we’ve carried out for Suffolk Life over the years includes research into SIPP market best practice and gauging adviser opinions about platform and SIPP transfers.
This job allows us to say that we don’t just help companies with lots of money make more money. We created the core text for the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)’s J11 Wrap and Platform Services qualification and review it each year.
We supply threesixty with data to support its platform due diligence service. We also help with copywriting, including training its own in-house team.

We wrote the ‘glue’ (which is to say the copy) for an early version of TP’s Investor app. We’ve also supplied market analysis to our friends in Newcastle from time to time and spoken at a few of its events.
