The Top Class Wednesday Update was live

So we came, we did it, we drank all the drinks and then we left again. And now, as the covers are pulled back over #langcatlive until the early autumn when we will – spoiler alert – do an in-person Home Game in Edinburgh, we have that nice moment of reminiscing when we can decide […]

The lang cat’s albums of 2021

Well here we are, right at the point where the old year gives a feeble cough, exhales and lets its eyes roll back as the violins swell. Hogmanay afternoon is a nothingy sort of time, so it’s a good chance to write my last blog of the year. As ever, it’s the list of the […]

Just a passing Sunday thought

Don’t worry, I’m not going to crowbar this round to something about platforms. Kurt Vonnegut, maybe my favourite author, once wrote: “Which brings us to the arts, whose purpose, in common with astrology, is to use frauds in order to make human beings seem more wonderful than they really are. Dancers show us human beings […]

small things to make your life better #1

So we start as we mean to go on. For anyone wondering where the lang cat got his name, the answer is from a fine Fifish folkie by the name of James Yorkston, who is a guitar hero and all round excellent fellow. His song ‘A Lang Cat’ is the guilty one. Sadly the lang […]

The Impact of Poor Service

We provided the research for a report, in conjunction with Parmenion, which reveals how far short of expectations many adviser platforms are falling. The research found that over the last 12 months, 88% of advisers needed to apologise to at least one of their clients on behalf of a platform, and that poor service delivery from platforms impacts 91% of advisers every day.

Answering the Call

Service means a lot of things to a lot of different people. It’s so subjective it can be hard to put your finger on. This paper aims to challenge the status quo and inertia that’s built up in the sector for many years.
