Why did you join the lang cat?
Taking a risk and joining a start-up (It was just Mark, Sam and I when I started) isn’t the kind of life choice I’d normally make. I had a decent job at a good company but I was at a very particular point in my life where I had a proper ‘now or never’ moment and I wanted to change. Plus, I’d known Mark a bit from a few years back and wanted to work with him.
What is your role at the lang cat?
Official job title is consulting director but I get involved in all sorts. Helping steer the company, produce our insight products, get out and about trying to sell stuff and get up to my eyes in client work.
If you could fix one thing in the financial services industry what would it be?
I’d make regulation clearer and more prescriptive. There’s a shocking amount of wasted time and energy in the sector figuring out and conforming to regulatory changes.

If you could only listen to one album forever more what would it be?
I think research has shown that this is actually an effective form of torture, shame on you for asking. But if I had to pick it would be The Optimist LP by Turin Brakes.
Which cartoon character would you most like to swap places with for the day?
No-one. That sounds horrendous.
